As a local realtor, I spend most of my days talking about neighborhoods, school zones, and interest rates, but when St. Patrick’s Day rolls around, it is all about where to find the best corned beef, coldest pint, and liveliest crowd. Panama City and Panama City Beach never disappoint, and this year is shaping up to be especially fun on both sides of the bridge.
The beauty of celebrating here is how easy it is to get around. Ubers are plentiful, the distance between the Beach and town is short, and once you are in downtown Panama City most of the hot spots are easily walkable. Park the car, put on your green, and treat the night like an open house tour of our best Irish spirited bars and restaurants, just with better music and more Guinness.
St. Patrick’s Day on the Beach
On the Beach side, the vibe is casual, social, and very local, these are the kinds of places where it is hard to walk in without running into someone you know.
McGuire’s Irish Pub – turning one on St. Paddy’s
This year is a big one for McGuire’s in Panama City Beach: the new location is celebrating its very first birthday on St. Patrick’s Day. They opened their doors on St. Patrick’s Day last year, so the holiday is both their anniversary and their biggest party of the year. Think classic Irish pub energy, hearty plates, pints flowing, and that shoulder to shoulder buzz that makes you feel like you have hopped a flight to Ireland without ever leaving Front Beach Road.
From a realtor’s perspective, I love that McGuire’s has instantly become a destination anchor on the Beach. It is the perfect place to kick off your night, meet up with friends, and soak in the atmosphere before you decide whether you are staying on the Beach or catching an Uber across the bridge.
Beef ‘O’ Brady’s – family friendly and festive
If you are looking for something a little more low key or kid friendly, Beef ‘O’ Brady’s in Panama City Beach is a great St. Patrick’s home base. You can usually count on corned beef and cabbage, Irish inspired specials, and green beer, all with plenty of TVs tuned to whatever game is on. It is the kind of spot where you can bring the whole family, still feel festive, and not worry about the scene getting too wild.
Christo’s Sports Bar & Grill – game day with an Irish twist
Christo’s Sports Bar & Grill is another solid choice if your ideal St. Patrick’s Day includes sports on screen and a drink in hand. Expect a classic sports bar feel with an Irish twist, beer and drink specials, bar food, and a crowd that is there to hang out for the afternoon. It is easy to settle in, claim a table, and let the day roll by.
Patches Pub & Grill – local favorite with live music
Ask around and you will hear Patches Pub & Grill come up often as a local favorite. On St. Patrick’s Day, they usually lean into hearty pub style food and live music that carries into the night. If you are after that neighborhood bar energy, friendly faces, regulars at the bar, and a stage that actually gets used, Patches is a must hit.
Downtown Panama City: Irish heart across the bridge
For those of us who do not mind a quick ride over the bridge, downtown Panama City is where the Irish spirit really comes alive, and it is incredibly easy to move around once you are there. Grab an Uber, get dropped downtown, and you can spend the rest of the day on foot.
House of Henry Irish Pub – the downtown centerpiece
If there is one place that feels made for St. Patrick’s Day, it is House of Henry Irish Pub in Historic Downtown Panama City. It is as close to a true Irish pub experience as we get here. They typically go big for St. Patrick’s with live music, festive food, and that packed, happy crowd you only see a few times a year. This is usually my first recommendation when friends or clients ask, “Where should we go in town?”
Make it a walkable downtown loop
One of the best parts about celebrating in downtown Panama City is how walkable it is. You can easily turn it into a little bar and bites crawl:
-
Start at House of Henry for the main Irish action and live music.
-
Wander over to Hunt’s Oyster House for fresh Gulf seafood if you are craving oysters or a heartier meal.
-
Swing by Little Village for a more relaxed, eclectic vibe, grab a drink, browse the shops, and regroup with your group.
-
If you are a craft beer fan, stop into Taproom for something on draft that is a little different from the usual green beer.
-
Finish the night along the water at No Name Lounge, where you can soak in the views and wind down before your ride home.
From a practical standpoint, this is one of the easiest nights of the year to enjoy downtown: you are not constantly fighting for parking, you can hit multiple spots without getting back in a car, and when you are ready to call it a night, an Uber is just a few taps away.
A local realtor’s St. Patrick’s route
Because I cannot resist planning things (hazard of the job), here is how I would map out a fun, realistic St. Patrick’s Day if you want to experience both the Beach and town:
-
Kickoff on the Beach
Start mid afternoon at McGuire’s Irish Pub in Panama City Beach to help them celebrate their one year St. Patrick’s anniversary and soak in that big pub energy. -
Second stop, same side of the bridge
Slide over to Patches Pub & Grill or Beef ‘O’ Brady’s for a more relaxed stop, a bite to eat, and time to catch a game or live music. -
Cross the bridge
Grab an Uber into downtown Panama City early evening and jump into the action at House of Henry. -
Walkable nightcap
From there, make a loop: Hunt’s for oysters, Little Village for something laid back, Taproom for a craft beer, and No Name Lounge for a waterfront nightcap. -
Head home safely
When you are ready to wrap it up, call an Uber back to the Beach or to your neighborhood, no driving, no stress.
Shamrocks, houses, and happy clients
Whether you already call Bay County home or you are secretly using your St. Patrick’s visit to feel out neighborhoods and future investment spots, this is one of the best times to see how our community shows up and has fun together. You get a real sense of the local energy, who is out, where people gather, and what different parts of town feel like after dark.
So throw on your green, support our local spots, and enjoy the short rides, walkable streets, and endless options between Panama City Beach and Panama City. And if you happen to fall in love with a neighborhood while you are out celebrating, you know exactly who to call on March 18.
